HISTORY

Home to the Second Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia from 1918 to 1976, the building at 925 Chestnut Street houses one of the worlds largest bank vault doors in its basement. That vault is now home to the Health Design Lab, a creative space unlike any other that exists to bridge the worlds of design and healthcare.

A CREATIVE THINK TANK

The Health Design Lab is a creative think tank led by a team of clinicians, designers, and students with a hunger to change the status quo in healthcare. Located in the heart of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health’s Center City Philadelphia Campus, inspiration is never far away.

3D PRINTING & RAPID PROTOTYPING

The Lab is also a manufacturing and prototyping space and is home to our clinical 3D printing and bioprinting lab. Using a suite of 3D printers, we are at the pushing boundaries of personalized medicine using 3D printing. Our bioprinting lab is the first of it’s kind at Jefferson and a shared resource. Along with other rapid prototyping tools, the Lab helps people get their ideas out of their heads and into the world.

A Grand Vision

In 2016, the Health Design Lab was officially opened thanks to the efforts of many people who believed in the power of design to bring about positive change in healthcare!
